Luck has a face in China: The dragon, revered for millennia in the Middle Kingdom. It is considered the ancestor of humanity and the ruler of the water; it determines the seasons, the weather, and therefore the harvest.
Still today, children born in the year of the dragon are considered to be especially lucky. So it's little wonder that this legendary creature is a regular component in art and a traditional image on distinguished carpets.
